Each method observes something different, and each fails in a different way. This page is the map: what every tool does, what it misses, and whether it is free or part of the subscription.
Findy is an inspection aid. No mobile app can guarantee detection of every hidden camera, microphone, tracker or recording device. These tools surface things worth looking at more closely. The last step is always your own eyes on the physical object. Read the full limitations.
The five methods
Guided inspection checklist
An ordered walkthrough of the objects and surfaces worth examining — smoke detectors, chargers, clocks, vents, mirrors, decorative items. Free.
Camera inspection tools
An infrared viewing mode, a lens-glint finder and an automatic lens scan, for spotting reflections and light sources that are easy to miss unaided. Subscription.
Network scanner
A Bonjour service browse plus a port probe across the local network, flagging addresses that respond like IP cameras and recorders. Subscription.
Bluetooth scanner
Lists advertising Bluetooth Low Energy devices with approximate signal strength, and watches in the background for a tracker travelling with you. Free.
Magnetic field scanner
Uses the iPhone magnetometer to compare a specific object against a baseline you set yourself. Free.
What each method finds — and misses
Findy combines several techniques because no single scan identifies every possible device. Read the columns together: a capability without its limitation is marketing, not documentation.

How results are labelled
Findy marks each discovered device either as ordinary or as showing camera-related indicators, and shows the specific reason it was marked. There is no "confirmed" state and no certainty score.

The reason shown beside a marked device is one of the following:
- a name matching a manufacturer known for cameras, shown as "Likely <vendor> camera";
- a name matching a camera-related keyword, shown as "Name matches <keyword>";
- a streaming or surveillance service advertised on the network;
- an open port associated with cameras.
A name-only match is enough on its own to flag a device, and many manufacturers known for cameras also make televisions, doorbells and routers — so treat that case as a starting point rather than a finding.
